Dr. Meggie Aube
Dr. Meggie Aube, born and raised in Alaska, graduated from the University of Alaska, Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance in 2006. While in Alaska she distinguished herself as a performer and educator, both performing recitals and teaching throughout the state. After attending UAA, Dr. Aube moved to Iowa City to continue her education at the University of Iowa under the instruction of Dr. Daniel Moore where she was also a percussion teaching assistant. She completed her Master’s degree in 2008 and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy in May 2011.
Her dissertation, "Women in Percussion: The Emergence of Women as Professional Percussionists in the United States, 1930- present" was completed in spring 2011 and can be found on Proquest.com or by following the link below. In addition, she presented her research at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in November of 2012. She was further able to share her research when her article, "Pioneer Women of Percssion" was published in the January 2013 Percussive Notes journal.

Teaching experiences in percussion include teaching and performing at the Amman National Music Conservatory in Amman, Jordan; artistic director and teacher of the Palmer Arts Council Summer Percussion Camp; percussion instructor at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival in Decorah, Iowa; teacher and artistic director of the yearly Percussion in the Valley Summer Percussion Camp.
Currently residing in Palmer, Alaska, Dr. Aube works as a percussion educator and adjunct professor at Matanuska-Susitna College. Her studio consists of over 30 students, comprised of children, teens, and adults enrolled in both private and group lessons. Meggie's goal is to spread her love of percussion across the state. As an Artist in Residence through the Alaska Artist in the Schools Program she has been a percussion teacher in residence at King Cove School in King Cove, AK. She hopes to hold similar residencies in other areas of the state. Dr. Aube has also been a clincian and judge all over the state, including Anchorage, Palmer, Wasilla, and Kotzebue.
